Southampton took a crucial three points with a 3-1 victory at Huddersfield, sending an early Christmas present to all their fans.
The Saints scored three goals for the second consecutive game under new manager Ralph Hasenhuttl. Southampton had not scored three goals in any game managed by Mark Hughes.
Their is clear belief in the new Saints system from both players and fans. Nathan Redmond scored his first goal of the season, and for many, was man of the match. Oriol Romeu and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg took full control of the midfield. The defense looks much improved in a three centre back shape, and Michael Obafemi became the youngest ever player to score in a Southampton kit.
The starting eleven remained unchanged from last week’s win versus Arsenal. Even though Hasenhuttl confirmed in his press conference all Southampton players were jumping back on the training “train.”
The win moves Southampton up to 16th in the table (depending on the Cardiff result). With another great performance, a distinct style, and all supporters flying high, we are all looking forward to Thursday’s match against West Ham.
