Wesley Hoedt free to leave

According to Express journalist Alex Crook, Hoedt could also be leaving St Mary’s in this transfer window.

It appears that the club are willing to listen to offers for the 24-year-old who has not been in the first-team squad for the last four Premier League games.

Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl seems to prefer other defensive options in Jannik Vestergaard, Jack Stephens, Maya Yoshida and Jan Bednarek; hinting at Hoedt being surplus to requirements.

After arriving for a fee of around £14.7m back in 2017, the Dutchman hasn’t really lived up to expectations and has struggled to deal with the pace of the Premier League despite showing moments of promise.
