James Ward-Prowse, Centre-Midfielder – 7

Tough assignment with a 19 year old debuting next to him in a two-man midfield.  Worked hard throughout the game and was constantly seeking out Redmond.  Got bodied off the ball in the first half, but battled until the final whistle.  Only question, when is his “amazing service” going to pay off?

Callum Slattery, Centre-Midfielder – 5

Very lax in possession in the first half.  Two poor give-aways which led to Derby counter-attacks.  Really was hard to find in the game, and did not make a great first impression on his senior debut.

Nathan Redmond, Attacking-Midfielder – 10

Best player on the field by a mile.  Took advantage attacking early, and right at Derby’s young right back.  Used a Shane Long flick and found himself all alone, just needing to pass the ball in the corner, and it was knocked in for the first goal.  Spent a lot of time defending and switching between left and right sides.  Scored a peach of a second goal, brilliantly deciding not to use Targett on his left, and cutting to the right for a 25 yard strike to the far post.  Nearly took the ball 40 yards on his own to win it.  You just wonder if using him really worth the replay?

Mohamed Elyounoussi, Attacking-Midfielder – 4

Is determined to make an impact, but nothing seems to come off.  Took a yellow for Matt Targett’s poor defending and was hampered from there on out.  Austin found him all alone from 7 yards out, and he hit the keeper square in the chest with a header.  His body language is completely negative and he just doesn’t feel a part of the team.  Hopefully things will become more positive.
