January 12th, Leicester vs Southampton

Our second league match of 2019 will see us travel to The King Power to take on our former manager and his team. When these two teams met earlier in the season at St. Mary’s, the Saints took the lead but managed to concede two goals to the away side and lose 1-2.

Both teams are in different situations now. We all know the impact Hasenhuttl has had on the club and the players so let us focus on Leicester. They currently sit 7th on the table with 31 points, but fans are calling for Puel to be sacked. Much like his time with Southampton, the football being played at Leicester is lackluster and the supporters are tired of it. Even after beating both Chelsea and Manchester City, supporters want a new manager.

Leicester, have had a weird stretch of beating the teams they are supposed to lose to and losing to the teams they are supposed to beat. With that said, it bodes well for the Saints who travel to the Foxes looking to leap frog their way out of the relegation zone.

I fully expect Hasenhuttl, who will have a fully rested squad, to come out and apply the pressure to a team that does not score many goals. The press will be in full effect and the Saints will look to strike on the counter attack. It will not be a pretty game but I believe the Saints get the job done and come away with all 3 points.

Prediction

Leicester 0-1 Southampton

Goal scorer: Stuart Armstrong
