Strikers and Substitutes
Shane Long-Striker- 11
yes, you’ve read the rating correctly.
In a score out of 10 Long gets 11. He won the penalty, harassed the defender before Cooley slotting home for the second, and proved an excellent defensive Striker.
The number seven played from deep and not only set key moves away but played the defender when called upon. This goal has been a very long time coming (no pun intended) and it’s a deserve reward for hard work and perseverance. Let us hope it’s the start of many.
Cédric Soares-substitute- 9.5
Brought on just before the hour mark, the Portuguese international was handed a tough test following Valery’s indiscretion. It was a difficult assignment which Cédric passed with flying colours. The Full-Back made the big challenges, faced up to opponents well, and was unwavering in his performance.
Substitute-Callum Slattery- 8
Making his senior debut in a high-pressure situation, Slattery’s 15 minutes past uneventfully. In a game where even, the slightest lapse could have proven the difference, no news is good news.
Substitute-Sam Gallagher-NA
Brought on for the last knockings of the action, a minute of work does not warrant a rating.
