Southampton vs Derby County: F.A Cup – Opposition Threats
By Harry Tizard
Jack Marriott
New signing Jack Marriot has been a pivotal part of Derby’s promotion push this season, and will be looking to replicate his goal against Southampton at Pride Park when the sides face off on Wednesday night.
Marriot, who joined Derby from Peterborough in the summer, is enjoying a strong first season with the Rams, scoring ten times in twenty six matches in both league and domestic cups.
Despite playing in the Championship, the twenty four year old has shown his ability to score against the big clubs. The Ipswich Town youth player has scored at both old Trafford and Stamford Bridge this season, along with his goal against the Saints in the 2-2 draw a couple of Saturdays prior to the upcoming meeting down the South Coast.
Combined with all this, the Saints back line needs to be alert for the positioning of the striker, with his fox in the box instinct the usual kryptonite for the red and whites defence.
