Oriol Romeu, Centre-midfield – 9
After a lung-busting midweek game, Romeu was back in the side and had no problem giving Hojbjerg his armband back. Although he didn’t need to make the impact he did on Wednesday, he was as rock solid as anyone, as a true professional protecting the Saints’ back line.
Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg, Attacking-midfielder – 9
Welcome back captain Hojbjerg. He looked refreshed, poised, and was cutting the Everton back line to shreds with his passing. This guy is a true difference maker and maybe the most underrated midfielder in the Premier League.
James Ward-Prowse, Attacking-midfielder – 10
His revolution continues under Hasenhuttl! Took on the attacking role typically suited for Stuart Armstrong. Scored a great opening goal in the 50th minute carrying the ball straight down the heart of the Everton defence. Displayed his complete arsenal of passing technique, and this coming after a taxing midweek competition.
Nathan Redmond, Attacking-midfielder – 9
Absolutely dangerous from the kick off. An early chance after being slipped in by Hojbjerg, but just squeezed the ball outside of the post with his left foot. Picks up the ball and is oozing confidence at the moment. Getting in space behind the defence three or four times a game, and today it led to the eventual game-winning own goal.
