Danny Ings, Striker – 7.5

Returned to the side after missing the last two games with a recurring hamstring injury.  Made a difference right away, nearly flicking in a header from a Ward-Prowse corner.  Almost forced an Everton own goal in the first half with a controlled run into the box.  Expectedly, looked a bit tired in the second half, but a great presence on the pitch.

Cedric Soares, Substitute Left Wing-Back – 7

Understandably took a while to get into the flow of the game, coming on for injured Targett on the left side.  Maybe most important moment of the game was cutting out an Everton counter-attack in the 55th minute.  Take a look at it again, it was an excellent example of defending movement to bait an early pass and an absolute critical play in the game. Missed a couple passes and did not look as fresh as he did on Wednesday, but maybe that is because Valery is clearly favoured over him at the moment.

Shane Long, Substitute Striker – 6.5

Brought on late as the tactical substitute as Everton pressed for a goal.  Got in behind the defence a few times and a had a great opportunity to confirm three points on a volley.  Battled through a head wound late to help his team close it out.

Stuart Armstrong, Substitute Attacking-midfielder – N/A

Had 5 minutes plus the ridiculous 8 minutes of stoppage time on the pitch.  Probably just rested today, and we will likely see him again when we host Palace, but Ward-Prowse made a strong case for his position.
