In a surprise to most, the Telegraph has reported that Austin will leave Southampton this month. Seeking an opportunity for more playing time.

You can read the report here. Wolverhampton and Aston Villa are rumored to be landing spots for the Englishman but the price has to be right for the club to let him go.

Southampton, however have said they are not going to price the player out and allow him to move. Apparently, severely bids have already been rejected for the striker because they did not meet the valuation the club has put on him.

With Gabbiadini already gone to Italy and now Austin on the verge of leaving that leaves Ings, Long, and Obafemi as the only strikers at the club. Some fans are worrying that Hasenhuttl is thinning out the squad too much and it is going to harm our chances of survival.

With a few days left in the transfer window and a number of players already out the door one would think a singing would be in the near future. But, Hasenhuttl has reaffirmed they are not going to sign anyone unless they, not only have the quality, but also fit the culture the Austrian is building in the club.

Austin, in his short time on the South Coast, has provided some memorable moments. Most notably his first goal for the club that was the winner at Old Trafford and more recently the third goal to sink the Gunners at St. Mary’s. He may have not always been a fan favorite but he could get the job done and helped up stay up last season.
