Southampton vs Crystal Palace: Premier League – Opposition Threats

With relegation rivals Crystal Palace coming to St Mary’s on Wednesday evening, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Southampton will be desperate to secure a third win in as many league matches for the first time since the 2015-2016 season.

Southampton have risen to the heady heights of 15th following successive victories over Leicester and Everton respectively. Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace are also hovering above the relegation zone, ahead of their opponents by virtue of only their superior goal difference.

Ironically, Crystal Palace represented Mark Hughes’ only scalp of the season in the reverse fixture in September before the Welshman’s timely dismissal in December.

Palace have suffered with the same issues with inconsistency that have plagued Southampton, with their league position belying the fact that there a number of talented players at the club.
