It has been reported by Sky Sports that Southampton have rejected 4 separate loan bids for Charlie Austin from rival Premier League clubs.

The new report, which you can read here, makes it seem likely the Englishman will remain with the club for the remainder of the season and is willing to compete for more play time.

The club is still willing to let the striker go but it needs to be a permanent move and for the right price. Sky, also reported Southampton have rejected a £7m bid from a Championship side.

With Austin looking like he will stay, it will keep depth at the striker position and the club better able to cope with an injury or two. Austin, has shown he can score goals in the Premier League and he could still do so for the Saints down the stretch. It would not make sense to just loan him to a team that is also trying to avoid relegation so at the end of the day unless someone is willing to pay the asking price we should keep him.

dark. Next. Saints deadline day move for Adams now looking unlikely

With the window quickly closing it is looking less and less likely the Saints will be making anymore moves. The talks over Che Adams have stalled and the club does not seem to be in any serious talks over other players.

Hasenhuttl, has repeatedly said this January that the club will only make a move for the right player and it seems like that right player was never made available this window. The summer is shaping up to be a busy period for the Saints. There will likely be more departures and several purchases in the off-season. The team will look a lot different next season as it had the past few.
