Arsenal 0-2 Southampton – Carabao Cup Quarter-Final, 2016

Two first-half strikes from Jordy Clasie and Ryan Bertrand saw Saints through to the Semi-Final of the Carabao Cup as they continued their run to the final of the competition that year.

Clasie opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a powerful first-time strike from the edge of the area and then Bertrand finished smartly after collecting Sofiane Boufal’s pass shortly before half-time.

The win set up a meeting with Liverpool in the final four with Saints winning both legs of the tie 1-0.

A 3-2 loss to Manchester United in the eventual final at Wembley proved unfortunate but was memorable for Manolo Gabbiadini’s brace.
