Jan Bednarek

The Pole was in decent form against Arsenal, an odd compliment to pay to a defender following a defeat but without a series of blocks from Bednarek, the score line could have been significantly worse.

His performances have dipped slightly in the past weeks but Bednarek is looking a fine prospect and one which Southampton must ensure they keep. Given most of the jewels in Southampton’s cabinet have been plundered by the top six, the Polish international is a player Saints must seek to build a team around.

Although he did inadvertently play Lacazette onside for the first goal, he was one of the few bright spots for the travelling faithful.
