Arsenal 2-0 Southampton: Premier League – Player Ratings
By Erik Franzo
Nathan Redmond, Striker – 6.5
Had he scored in the opening minutes, the entire game would have been different. Instead Leno made a good save from 8 yards out and Arsenal scored on the counter-attack. Hasenhuttl is worried teams are going to just focus on taking him out of the game, and if so, who is going to score?
Michael Obafemi, Substitute, Striker – 5
Came on for Stuart Armstrong up top, and flashed his pace for fifteen minutes before re-injuring his hamstring. Another huge blow for the Saints who cannot lose another goal-scorer.
Charlie Austin, Substitute, Striker – 5
Entered at half time as a part of a double switch and received little to no service. Got one header on goal, and otherwise floated around with not much to do. Despite this performance, you will likely see him on Wednesday.
Mohamed Elyounoussi, Substitute, Striker – 5
May have only gotten into the game because of the injury to Obafemi. You can tell he truly wants to make a difference, but continues to press in his limited opportunity. Got free down the left side twice, but is not getting his service in the box. With all the injuries to strikers, he may get a little more run down the stretch, and that may not be what Saints’ fans want to hear.
