Austin or Long?

In such as crucial game as this evening’s, Saints surely have to field a recognised striker in attack.

At Arsenal, a clear game-plan from Ralph Hasenhuttl saw Nathan Redmond centrally but the two early conceded goals meant that plan was never put into action.

Redmond had a big chance in the opening five minutes to score and did okay overall but playing in that position is clearly not his favoured position.

For that reason, Charlie Austin or Shane Long may have to come in to play that role.

Austin provides good striker’s instinct, whilst Long has the pace to unsettle defences and create for others so it remains to be seen who gets the nod.
