Saints 1-0 Spurs, 2002/03 Premier League

James Beattie’s 13th goal of the season saw Saints to victory here in what proved to be a highly successful campaign for the club.

They would finish 8th in the Premier League on 52 points and reached the FA Cup final at the Millenium Stadium – losing narrowly by 1-0 to Arsenal.

Beattie would also have a fine individual season by netting 23 league goals and competing for the Golden boot with the likes of Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Thierry Henry.

This 1-0 win over Spurs came on a Wednesday night and Saints then beat them 4-0 at St Mary’s in the FA Cup Third-Round the following Saturday.
