Southampton: Ward-Prowse not selected for National Duty this window
The English National Team was announced today and to the dismay of many Saint fans around the globe, James Ward-Prowse was not included on the team.
The English midfielder has been in the form of his life scoring 6 goals in 9 matches and flying around the pitch doing everything that is asked of him and more. Many supporters believed he was a shoe-in to get a call up to the National team this time around as not many players are playing as well as he is at the moment.
When asked about the lack of selection for Ward-Prowse, Manager Gareth Southgate said, “We love Prowsey – this recent spell is his best since we capped him and he’s a world-class set-piece taker, but he’s only recently got back in the team at Southampton.”
Players like Jordan Henderson and Fabian Delph made the team despite not having consistent play time or anywhere near the form James Ward-Prowse has been in so it has made his selections for the squad a bit questionable.
Unfortunately, we cannot undo what has already been done and we do not have any say in the National team selection. All we can hope for is that this snub does not discourage our talented midfielder but motivates him to take his game to an even higher level and make it impossible for Southgate to look over him a second time.
Every Saint supporter knows how much of a talent James Ward-Prowse is and we are all looking forward to what he will do the rest of this season and beyond. It will only be a matter of time before he is doing magical things not only for his club but also his country and hopefully on some of the biggest stages in the world.
