Forwards
Nathan Redmond, Attacking Midfield/Forward – 8
The Match of the Day pundits were fawning over Redmond last night following another sterling performance and it is easy to see why. His pace and tricks have always been present but the maturity which has appeared in his game is raising his performances to a new level. The wonderful run in the build up to the goal drew the Brighton defenders with him, before his delicate ball to Hojbjerg set the midfielder free to slot passed a despairing Matthew Ryan. It can’t be long before he joins Ward-Prowse in Gareth Southgate’s plans.
Danny Ings, Forward – 6
It was nice to have Ings back in the starting line up after several weeks on the physio’s bench. The energy he brings is always welcome and he was involved in the build up to the goal. If he could stay fit for a season, he could be devastating but given how injury prone Ings is, it is not impossible that Hasenhuttl may shop for another striker this summer. Brighton struggled with his persistence and he had a reasonable penalty claim turned down.
Substitutes
Jack Stephens – 6
Brought on to do a job and see out the win which to Stephen’s credit, he did resolutely. Down the pecking order currently, could he be shipped out on loan next season?
Sam Gallagher – 5.5
Another player brought on to offer an option in the final 25 minutes and relieve a tiring Ings. Offered little although worked hard for the team. Another potential summer departure?
Josh Sims – N/A
Unfair to give Sims a rating given he came on at around the 90 minute mark. Expect to see him feature more over the coming months.
