Two late strikes from Liverpool saw Southampton fall to a 3-1 Premier League defeat at St Mary’s on Friday evening.
Saints were well in the game and went ahead through Shane Long in the ninth minute.
However, the visitors replied through Naby Keita, Mohamed Salah and Jordan Henderson to ensure that they returned to the top of the table.
Whilst it is ultimately a disappointing result for Ralph Hasenhuttl and his side, any points from this game were going to be a bonus and they remain in a very favourable position to avoid relegation this season.
Recent results have gone against the teams around them and they only have teams below the top-six left to play in their final six league games.
