Southampton were forced to settle for a point against Watford on Tuesday evening despite holding the lead for 90 minutes.

Shane Long opened the scoring after seven seconds with the fastest Premier League goal ever, but Andre Gray smashed home an equaliser in the last minute of normal time to make it 1-1.

Despite surrendering the lead late on, Saints move closer to Premier League safety and are now six points clear of Cardiff.

Their top-flight status will be confirmed next weekend should they get a result against Bournemouth and Cardiff fail to win or draw versus Fulham.
