Manager, Goalkeeper and Defenders

Ralph Hasenhuttl, Manager – 6.5
Will have been pleased with the goals scored but will be concerned with the amount leaked at the back. Deserves credit for changing the system to his favoured formation of 3 centre backs and 2 wing backs. Big summer ahead…

Angus Gunn, Goalkeeper – 6.5
The young English keeper will have been disappointed to concede 3 at home but in truth, there wasn’t a huge amount he could do about the goals. On closer inspection, the second goal came from a decent save, which Gunn’s defence failed to react quickly enough to. Excellent save late on from Callum Wilson. If being highly critical, could he be more vocal towards the defenders in front of him?

Jan Bednarek, Centre-Back – 6.5

Not his finest game in a Southampton shirt and he does look more exposed without Yoshida or Vestergaard beside him. Nevertheless, he has been one of the stand out players this season and there is plenty more to look forward to from the Polish international.

Jack Stephens, Centre-Back – 5.0

Could this be his last game in red and white. Can look excellent on the ball when coming into midfield but his positioning is not good enough for a centre back and should have done better for the third Bournemouth. Also played Wilson onside for the second goal.

Yan Valery, Right-Back – 6.0

As usual, contributed going forwards with numerous overlapping runs. Defensively can look questionable, especially as part of a back four. Improved in the second half.

Ryan Bertrand, Left-Back – 5.5

A disappointing performance salvaged by a much better second half performance. Looked fairly comfortable when at centre back with Targett in front of him. Although provided good support offensively, not a performance he will remember fondly.
