Saints 3-1 Southend, League One, 8th May 2010
The club’s first season in League One saw them narrowly miss out on the play-offs after overcoming a 10-point deduction.
A morale-boosting win in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy also saw the club gain some silverware during a highly impressive campaign under Alan Pardew.
Two strikes from talisman Rickie Lambert had Saints 2-1 ahead after 85 minutes and Adam Lallana added a third in second-half stoppage-time.
Saints fans were made to wait an extra season for promotion back to the Championship but it was certainly worth it when it came.
