Saints 4-0 Coventry City, Championship, 28th April 2012

A packed house at St Mary’s saw a carnival atmosphere as Saints confirmed their return to the Premier League in style.

Home fans flooded onto the pitch at full-time to celebrate back-to-back promotions with their heroes.

Billy Sharp opened the scoring when he flicked in an Adam Lallana volley towards goal, and Saints made it two after 19 minutes when captain Jose Fonte stooped to head in at a corner.

Fellow centre-back Jos Hooiveld bundled home a third before Lallana hooked home Rickie Lambert’s knockdown to complete the scoring.
