Marc Walker – Nathan Redmond, obviously!

The confidence and ability that Redmond has shown this season compared to last year has seen him become the key man for Saints, and this has been rightly recognised by our contributors here.

In the first half of the campaign, he was unlucky on a number of occasions; I distinctly remember him bending a shot that looked destined for the top corner against Spurs at Wembley before the ball cannoned back off the crossbar.

However, he persisted and we saw the best of him when his position was changed by Hasenhuttl. He now has a manager that wants to help him and other individuals rather than just grinding out results.

I’d like to highlight one other man too though: Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

It must have been a huge relief for him in the final stages of the season to be able to show his leadership qualities during a positive run for the team rather than having to come out and stick up for his teammates every week after losses.

Some of the players that we have at the moment like Redmond, Hojbjerg, Ward-Prowse, Bednarek and Gunn have the makings of a great team spine. They are all supposedly yet to reach the peaks of their careers too and I strongly believe that can come under Hasenhuttl in the next couple of seasons.
