Joe McIndoe – James Ward-Prowse (Tottenham)

While Yan Valery would be a clear winner on technical grounds for his thunderbolt at old Trafford, the Frenchman misses out to a more significant strike.

James Ward-Prowse has stepped up with some big goals in recent months and is free kick against Tottenham might be his most crucial to date.

With the game at one all, and just 10 minutes to play, the Englishman stepped up to deliver the beautiful free kick. The ball flew over the wall and passed a despairing keeper.

The goal was not only a superb example of the international’s ability, but also marked the first time Southampton had come from behind to pick up the win.

The rare win against top six opposition felt like a bonus result at the time, but ultimately proved a major difference between survival and relegation. A shock win against Manchester United put Cardiff just five points behind SFC on the final day. Without those three points things could have turned out a lot differently.
