According to a report from football insider, Southampton are ready to move 8 senior players this summer to clean house and get the players Hasenhuttl wants.

Among those who are supposed to be sold two of the names that have come out are Charlie Austin and Matt Targett.

Neither of these names come as a surprise to supporters as these two have been rumored to leave the South Coast for some time now. It is known that the players who do not fit Hasenhuttl’s vision or just do not have the talent will be sold this summer.

If the players the Austrian wants to bring in can be afforded we are going to have to say good-bye to some of the senior players who have worn the Saints kit proudly over the past few seasons.

It is not a question of when will these players be sold (anytime this summer) but for how much. This is important because the money we receive for these players will ultimately dictate how much the club spends on bringing in new players.

The valuation for Targett is reportedly around £10m and one would have to assume a 29-yr-old striker would go for a little bit less than a young left-back.

I suspect if the club can get about £50m-£60m for the players sold this summer we can expect some good young talent brought in and make next season all the more exciting.

Any day now we should have the announcement of Moussa Djenepo signing to the club but before we sign a second player I would expect the club to offload some of the players it is aiming to sell before they spend any more money.
