Newcastle United 2-2 Saints, 2015/16 season

Saints had already played twice against Vitesse Arnhem in the early qualifying stages of the Europa League but began their Premier League campaign with a lively affair here.

Graziano Pelle had scored in both legs against Arnhem and added his third of the season to open the scoring.

However, Saints fell behind as goals from Papiss Cisse and Gini Wijnaldum came wither side of half-time.

A point would be secured by Shane Long though with 10 minutes remaining; the start of their rise to an eventual sixth-placed finish.

Saints team: Stekelenburg, Cedric (Martina 45), Yoshida, Fonte, Targett, Davis, Wanyama, Rodriguez (Long 65), Mane, Tadic, Pelle
