Saints 1-1 Watford, 2016/17 season

The 2016 summer saw the appointment of Claude Puel as Saints boss after the unexpected departure of Ronald Koeman.

His season-long tenure at St Mary’s began with European football to look forward to and the arrival of six new signings in preparation for an important campaign.

Saints fell behind to Watford here when Etienne Capoue netted after nine minutes.

However, a debut strike from £12m man Nathan Redmond in the second-half rescued a point.
