A report from the Independent back in May mentioned Saints as suitors of Lookman who has fallen out of favour with Everton.

An initial price of around £20m was reportedly put on the 21-year-old’s head, but he remains a players well-known by Ralph Hasenhuttl following a loan spell with RB Leipzig in 2018.

Blessed with blistering pace and trickery to concern Premier League defences, Lookman could be just what Saints are looking for.

However, he has played most of his career as a winger rather than a striker and a centre-forward type would be more desired.
