The midfielder spent last season on-loan to Dutch side Feyenoord and is now interested in leaving Southampton on a permanent deal this summer.

Clasie’s preferred landing spot would be in the Dutch league and it appears as though his wish will be granted as AZ Alkmaar have confirmed they are interested in bringing Clasie in.

It is pretty clear that the Dutch national does not have a future at the club anymore and it would be best for both sides if he signed a permanent deal elsewhere. One, it will get him off of the books and will ultimately save us money.

Second, Clasie will have sound of mind knowing he is a team to stay and will be able to play first team football again in his home country.

Jordy, this season, made 33 appearances and collected 1 goal and 4 assists for Feyenoord. His most impressive stats from the past season was his passing though. He averaged closed to 70 passes per match and completed them at an 87.9% clip.

That type of consistent passing should be more than enough for teams in the Dutch league to have interest in the defensive midfielder.

I would not be surprised if multiple teams go after Clasie as he would add quality to most sides in that league. Jordy Clasie’s time at Southampton was not the flashiest and not very memorable but he was a decent player when he was able to get onto the pitch but it will be the right move for him to find a new team and start fresh.
