Celta Vigo have interest in buying Sofiane Boufal, who spent the season there on loan, but are unwilling to pay the current asking price of €16m.

The one-time record signing, was sent to Celta Vigo on loan this season when Mark Hughes was still at the head of the club. The 25-year-old had a decent season for the La Liga side, leading the league in dribbles completed and scoring 3 goals.

Now his loan spell is up and it is time to make a decision. The Spanish club would like to purchase the Moroccan winger but have said the €16m option to buy is too expensive and would like to pay around half of that at €8m being the most they would go up to.

The flashy winger was purchased from Lille for £17m and losing him for less than half of that would be a big hit to the club and reflected badly on the board as a whole.

If the board is willing to take a hit on Boufal, it would be a shame not to allow Hasenhuttl to get his hands on him and see what he can do with the player.

Boufal, has loads of talent. There is no denying that and we have all laid witness to the mesmerizing things he can do with the football at his feet. A bit immature and a lack of consistency is what drove a wedge between him and his former manager, Mark Hughes.

But, now a year older and possibly seeing the type of coach that now runs Southampton, Boufal may be ready to take his craft more seriously and provide a positive impact for the Premier League club.

Next. The introduction of VAR will help Premier League teams like Southampton. dark

All of this is just speculation though and a little bit of optimistic thinking, but only time will tell and I am sure we will all found out the fate of Boufal soon enough.
