Southampton: Five wingers who have been linked to Saints this summer

St Mary’s has also been mentioned as the potential destination for another second-tier starlet in Hull City’s Bowen.

Last week both the Hull Daily Mail and Football League World published articles saying that Everton and Saints were going toe-to-toe to sign the 22-year-old.

Bowen played under former Saints boss Nigel Adkins last season and netted a superb 22 goals in 46 league appearances.

He would suit Saints’ current recruitment strategy of targeting young players of great potential but could demand a fairly hefty fee.
