Southampton: Reports link Saints to Dortmund man Rode
The 28-year-old midfielder has been linked with Southampton the past few days and spent the past season on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt.
The asking price for the midfielder is reportedly around €5m due to some injury concerns that have flared up recently.
His passing ability is his strong suite and he excels at through balls and picking apart defenses. He averaged 83.4% passing rate and 43 passes per match with 1.5 of them being key passes.
The former Bayern Munich player only made 12 appearances last season in the Bundesliga and it comes to be a bit of a surprise to see the club linked with him. Although a solid midfielder, he does not fit the type of player Hasenhuttl is aiming to bring in this summer.
He is over 24 years of age and has been battling injuries but it could be the €5m asking price that could be drawing the interest. With the rumor of Lemina possibly being sold this summer it would make sense to bring in a midfielder with first team football experience in to bolster the squad.
With the sale of multiple first team players seeming imminent, the club seems to be coming into some money they can spend and €5m will definitely not break the bank and the club could pursue some of the other targets they their eyes on.
The transfer window is heating up and this is an extremely exciting time to be a Saint supporter. With the purchase of both Djenepo and Che Adams this coming season is looking to be an exciting one.
I suspect the club will purchase at least two more players this summer after the sale of some of the players on the chopping and round out the squad nicely to make a run at the top half of the table next season.
