The same day Southampton announce their signing of Che Adams they have also made the move for Striker Ings complete today for £18m.

The club announced today on their site that Danny Ings has now signed a contract that will see him on the team until at least 2022.

The striker scored eight goals for the Saints this season and would have scored a few more if it was not for a couple nagging injuries that saw him miss some time throughout the season.

“Obviously, being here for a season already, I felt like it was very up and down for me personally, with a few niggles and small injuries, and that was off the back of not having a strong pre-season going into the season.” said Ings.

He is looking to show to Saint fans that he is worth the money and staying healthy will be a large part of that.

We already know what he is capable of but there have always been questions surrounding his health and this almost feels like it could be a make or break season for the Englishman. With Adams already being purchased and Redmond apparently taking on more of a striker role this coming season Ings will want to make the most of the opportunities he will get.

The players seems to be extremely excited about his new deal and ready to get the season going again for his boyhood club.

With just over a month left before the season starts, transfer business is just starting to heat up for the club as there are still a number of players to be sold and hopefully a few more to be brought in.

With the sale of Matt Targett the club can now focus on the sale of other players like Charlie Austin who has reportedly been bid on by Sheffield United in the area of £8m.
