Southampton had a busy Monday as they confirmed two permanent signings and sold a defender.

Che Adams joined from Birmingham City for a reported £16m, whilst Danny Ings also completed a permanent move from Liverpool after his loan with Saints in 2018/19.

However, the money that was received from the £14m sale of Matt Targett to Aston Villa helped out and began a potential clear-out of fringe players this summer.

Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl prefers working with a tighter squad and is said to be happy to let around five players leave to free up space.
