Charlie Austin

A report from the Sun states Saints have sparked a battle for Austin’s signature by valuing him at £8m.

Premier League side’s Crystal Palace and Aston Villa are said to be keen on taking the 29-year-old from St Mary’s, whilst second-tier Fulham and West Brom are also said to be pursuing him.

Sheffield United were also linked with Austin in June as they look to add some guaranteed goals to their ranks.

The current Saints man has netted 34 times in 106 top-flight appearances and will still be a great attacking presence for many sides.
