Southampton: Five defenders who have been linked with a summer move to Saints

Strong links were made between Saints and Genk full-back Maehle back in January.

The Daily Mail reported that the two clubs had opened talks over the transfer of the 22-year-old with Saints looking to move out Cedric.

Cedric moved out on-loan to Inter Milan but no move for Maehle materialised despite the player reportedly being keen to join.

A report from the Telegraph this summer did state that Saints were looking to add a wing-back to their squad during this off-season so perhaps the deal isn’t dead yet.
