Southampton: Rumors have been reignited for AC Milan Striker

It was rumored a few months ago that Southampton were interested in 23-year-old striker Andre Silva but they were quickly discarded as being just a rumor.

Now, that link has made again and the path has been made “clearer” to bring him to the South Coast. If they are still interested in the striker the club will face competition from both Wolverhampton and Marseille.

Wolves however are eyeing another striker in the form of Patrick Cutrone so if they complete that deal they will unlikely pursue Silva opening the door for Southampton to step through if they are truly interested in the young striker.

Silva was nearing a deal to French team Monaco until it fell apart and now Silva is waiting in purgatory to see where he will be playing football next season. Milan would like to see a bidding war happen for the striker and are willing to let the player go for a fee of around £22.5m-£27m.

As exciting of a player like Andre Silva is, I do not believe Southampton will be willing to spend more money on another striker at this time. They already got their man in Che Adams and had to complete the Ings deal so they will be looking to spend any more money in the budget this summer strengthening the squad in other areas.

This could just be a rumor put out to stir up interest in the player and get other clubs interested in purchasing him from Milan. He is on contract with them until 2022 and spent last season on loan in Sevilla scoring 11 goals and 3 assists in La Liga.

We will keep our eyes on this rumor but I do not suspect much more will come from it and Silva will end up on a club that was not even mentioned in this article.
