The club announced two home matches have been moved for live TV in October and a chance for Southampton to prove themselves to a national audience.

The first fixture moved is the one against, Chelsea. The original fixture was scheduled to be on Saturday 5th October, but has now been moved to the next day of Sunday 6th October, with the match starting at 2pm BST.

Last season, this fixture saw Southampton fall to the visiting side 3-0 in a somewhat embarrassing match. Mark Hughes, was still in charge of the club at this point and it was when the defense looked it worst.

Saint supporters will be hoping this match will be like the one that took place at Stamford Bridge, where Angus Gunn kept a clean sheet and the Saints managed to get out of London with a point. It is always an exciting test playing against one of the top 6 clubs and the same will be true for this one.

The second fixture that has been moved is the match against Leicester when they travel to St. Mary’s. Originally a Saturday kick-off, the match has been moved back a day to Friday 25th October, and will be played under the lights with an 8pm BST start time.

Another fixture last season that saw the Saints drop points to the visiting side while under Mark Hughes, but saw a much better result he second time they played each other.

When Leicester came to St. Mary’s last season they managed to take all three points on a last minute goal by Harry Maguire but Saints returned the favor when the visited the King Power Stadium later in the season.

The season is getting closer by the day and I do not know about you but I can barely contain my excitement.
