Southampton: Three late transfer window updates as Saints look to do business

Forster/McCarthy set for shock Anfield?

With Angus Gunn now the first-choice goalkeeper for Saints, both Fraser Forster and Alex McCarthy have been left to battle it out for the number two role.

However, both have been linked with moves to replace the outgoing Simon Mignolet as second-choice at Liverpool.

A report from the Liverpool Echo has said that McCarthy is being lined-up to support Alisson, whilst the Daily Mail says that Forster is a late target for the Reds.

A move for either player would make sense and playing a supporting role at a Champions League club may be favourable with so many games to play in a season.
