Southampton have been linked with £1.5m rated midfielder as potential cheap replacement if Lemina is sold this transfer window.

The tweet that links the club with the midfielder comes Assistant Sports News Editor at The Sun, Phil Cadden. So, take that how you will.

Cadden, tweeted saying the player has turned down moves to Benfica and Lille because he is keen on playing in the Premier League.

The 27-year-old midfielder is a bit older than the type of player Hasenhuttl has mentioned he is looking for this transfer window but at a price tag of £1.5m it could be beneficial to bring in a player who is older and has experience of playing first-team football.

The deal for Vukovic will seemingly depend on if the deal for Lemina to Wolves gets pushed through but every time there is news of progress being made in that deal it always seems to stall out immediately after.

The Croatian provides a physical presences in the middle of the pitch as he stand well over 6 foot tall and weighs-in at 81kg.

As much as the club needs a new Centre-back, personally, I would not be opposed to this move if Lemina is sold in the next couple of days. The youth development is nice and is exciting to see but there is something to beside for having experience in the squad as well and that is what Vukovic will provide if the club makes the move for him.

Next. Elyounoussi has now been linked to two clubs. dark

There are only a couple days left now for Premier League clubs to get business done and although Southampton seem a bit quiet now, I would suspect they make one or two moves before the window slams shut on Thursday.
