Q2) With the transfer deadline upcoming, who would be the ideal deadline day signing that Saints could make and why? Which players would like to see leave the club too?

In terms of an ideal signing, realistically Fabian Schar from Newcastle would be an absolute steal in my opinion.

The Swiss defender would not fit the transfer policy of signings under the age of 24, but his performances last year for the Tyneside club were extremely impressive. Schar will be 28 later this year and could therefore be valued at a reasonable price within Southampton’s price range, considering players such as Dayot Upamecano, who all the fans have wanted, are being valued at £55M.

Players I would like to see depart the club would be Charlie Austin and Mario Lemina, for obvious reasons; past that you can make a case for Alex McCarthy, Fraser Forster, Wesley Hoedt, Jack Stephens, Mohammed Elyounoussi and Guido Carrillo – especially if this were to help fund a move for a centre-half.
