Midfielders
Oriol Romeu, Central-Midfield – 5.5
A late selection following Hojbjerg’s illness, Romeu was his usual tough tackling self in the centre of the park. Although the Spaniard did not set the world alight, he looked fairly composed on the ball and battled willingly against a powerful Burnley midfield.
James Ward-Prowse, Central-Midfield – 5
This was more like the pre-Hasenhuttl version of Ward-Prowse, rather than the player who set the second half of last season alight and earned a call up to the England side. There was some neat passing but he failed to impose himself upon the game. He should have insisted taking a freekick on the 52nd minute mark rather than allowing Bertrand to waste it needlessly. Hasenhuttl might think about bringing Lemina back into the fold based on this performance.
Nathan Redmond, Attacking-Midfield – 6.5
The standout man for Saints, Redmond looked lively throughout and worked tirelessly for the team. Forced Nick Pope into a fine save on the 42nd minute mark after a darting run and stinging shot. Couple of wild shots but following signing a new four year deal this week, he will give Hasenhuttl hope for the season to come.
