Southampton responded well to their defeat to Burnley with a strong performance against Liverpool.

However, missed chances and two well-taken goals from the Reds saw Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men fall to a 2-1 defeat.

As with their opening day loss, it seemed that their management of some of the key moments in the game proved to be their downfall.

They go to Brighton next weekend looking to pick up their first points of the season.
