Hasenhuttl throws Djenepo on – and it pays off

With Saints struggling to create up until the 53rd minute, Ralph Hasenhuttl threw Moussa Djenepo on for his second Premier League appearance.

It was a statement of intent from the Saints boss, and it proved to be a masterstroke.

Just a minute after entering the field of play, Djenepo received a pass on the left and drove towards the Brighton goal.

Shifting the ball inside onto his right foot, he then unleashed a superb curling strike into the far corner to leave home keeper Matt Ryan with no chance.

Djenepo, Sofiane Boufal and Nathan Redmond had good displays, with the latter two combining for Saints’ second goal in stoppage-time.
