Southampton are coming off a league and cup victory and look to keep the momentum rolling as United come to the South Coast to take on the Saints.

This fixture last year was an exciting 2-2 draw that saw the end of Mark Hughes time in charge of the Saints. Now, the two sides meet at St. Mary’s with new managers looking to pick up all 3 points.

There are some injury concerns for both sides coming into the match. The hosts will be without star man Nathan Redmond and youngster Moussa Djenepo as both suffered injuries in the cup match midweek. For United, they will be missing striker Anthony Martial and former Saints’ man, Luke Shaw.

Outside of that both teams are healthy and ready to go for Saturday’s match.

How Southampton Will Win

The Saints, will have to be feeling confident coming off of two wins in less than a week and will feel up to the challenge of getting a result from this match.

I suspect they will play this match very similarly to how they played Liverpool. Pressing the defenders and keeper and look to hit on the counter. They will not just sit back and defend this match, like some opponents do against top 6 sides, but Hasenhuttl has to believe his team can force mistakes out of the Red Devils and really be in control of the match.

The key to this match will be taking advantage of the mistakes the Saints force out of the visitors. The team has had an issue finishing their chances and if they continue to do so it will be a frustrating afternoon for the Red and White.

Look for an open match with plenty of chances for both sides. The crowd will be behind the boys Saturday and hopefully they can help lift them to a third victory in a row.

How United Will Win

Manchester United are coming off a loss to Crystal Palace last weekend. Without their starting striker that will likely mean Marcus Rashford will slide over and start up top. United, are a young team this year and have loads of pace and can put two past you in the blink of an eye.

This was put on show against Chelsea in the opening match of the season and will look to hit Southampton in similar fashion. They will get their chances, if they can finish them (and not miss penalties) they will give Southampton a hand full.

Paul Pogba, will be the key to success. If he decides to show up and put his world class talent on display he can potentially have a big day against a sometimes shaky Saints Defense.
