Southampton v Manchester United: Premier League – Three Fantasy League Picks
By Harry Tizard
Sofiane Boufal
With news that the injury Nathan Redmond picked up on Tuesday night could be rather serious, and that Moussa Djenepeo will miss the match with a muscle injury, Moroccan winger Sofiane Boufal could make his first league start of the season.
It could be considered a risky decision by some to put the former Lille man in their team due to the fact that Scotsman Stuart Armstrong has a strong case for a place in the starting eleven (especially due to the fact the attacking midfielder scored the last time the two teams faced off in the South Coast) but with such dribbling ability, skill, and unpredictability in the locker of Djenepeo and Redmond, the only man that comes close to such qualities is Boufal.
Combined with this, injury to former Saint Luke Shaw means the twenty-five year old is more than likely to come up against an ageing Ashley Young. Saying this, in no way in the former England player lacking in quality – but at the age of thirty-four, Boufal will fancy his chances to take him on in one on one situations and either get past him or win free-kicks high up the pitch.
In fantasy football, if a free kick is converted, it counts as an assist to the man that won it. As a result, Saints number nineteen has a high chance of point scoring. If the winger can replicate the four fouls that he won on Tuesday night – those that take a punt on Boufal can feel confident that at least one of those can be scored by free-kick specialist James Ward-Prowse.
At just £5.5m and an assist to his name in just twenty-seven minutes of league football this season – the former Ligue 1 player is a low risk player that could grab you some points this weekend.
