Vestergaard heads home to level the game

As in the first-half, Saints began the second period brightly. However, this time they got the goal that they had threatened to get and drew level.

Danny Ings forced a good save from David De Gea from a James Ward-Prowse corner, but the ball was only cleared as far as Kevin Danso out on the right.

He lofted a cross back in towards the back post and it was his fellow defender Jannik Vestergaard who rose highest to thump home a header.

It was a simple goal in the scheme of things but crucially gave Saints something to hold onto as the rest of the game played out.
