England U21s 3-2 Italy U21s, 10th November 2016

The most recent men’s international at St Mary’s saw three Saints players in Jack Stephens, James Ward-Prowse and Nathan Redmond play, whilst former defender Calum Chambers and future signing Angus Gunn also started.

This was another friendly in the lead up to a summer European Championship and England performed much better by reaching the semi-finals, with the tournament hosted by Poland.

Now managed by Aidy Boothroyd, the Young Lions found themselves 2-1 down midway through the first-half.

A second-half turnaround was on the way though as Lewis Baker equalised on the hour mark, but it would take until the last kick of the game for the winner to arrive.

It was a special one from a Saints perspective too as James Ward-Prowse whipped in a corner and teammate Jack Stephens slammed the loose ball in to spark jubilant scenes.

England team: Angus Gunn, Issac Hayden, Calum Chambers, Jack Stephens, Brendan Galloway, Lewis Baker (Will Hughes), Nathaniel Chalobah, James Ward-Prowse, Demarai Gray (Duncan Watmore), Nathan Redmond, John Swift (Tammy Abraham)
