Che Adams, Striker – 6.5

What could have been for Adams at his old hunting ground but for a stunning save from Henderson on the 26 minute mark. Possibly guilty of trying too hard, there was a lot to be positive about from an industrious performance.

The goals will come if he continues getting into the right places but Adams will need to work on his composure and focus on becoming more clinical. Probably his best performance in a Southampton shirt.

Danny Ings, 1st Substitute – 6

As you’d expect, worked hard to preserve the slender lead. Will be desperate to start again.

Stuart Armstrong, 2nd Substitute – 6

Wasn’t introduced until late on, his main contribution was inducing the high tackle which saw Sharp get his marching orders.

Shane Long, 3rd Substitute – N/A

Not enough time on the pitch to make an impact
